Businesses that don’t take network security seriously are exposing themselves to one of the top five risks on the planet today.
The World Economic Forum (WEF)'s Global Risks report puts cyber attacks against governments and businesses as the fourth-most grave occurrence possible, behind income disparity, chronic fiscal imbalances and greenhouse gas emissions.
The dossier notes that "a healthy digital space is needed to ensure stability in the world economy and balance of power" and suggests that there's an "urgent" need to get private funding to look into system vulnerabilities.
In a separate report, Cisco believes that the issue of network security should be taught in schools or when young professionals begin their first jobs, as currently there is a "startling" lack of concern about the issue amongst younger users.
