2011 has seen a huge surge in companies using mobile business broadband connections, according to the European Commission.
Eurostat has revealed that more than half (52 per cent) of firms in the UK now use 3G dongles or modems to get online, compared to just over a third (36 per cent) last year.
Pauline Trotter, from analyst from Ovum, explains that "mobile data tariffs offering internet access are decreasing all the time and, particularly for small businesses that are very cost sensitive, this helps increase the uptake of these services".
Elsewhere in the Eurostat figures, it emerged that the amount of British companies with websites increased to four-in-five (79 per cent) this year, whilst more than a fifth (22 per cent) let you order goods and services online.
