Leased lines rely on equipment and cables being available at the local exchange and your site. However, availability is usually not known for certain at the time of quotation. Therefore, there is a need to caveat the pricing with the ubiquitous phrase “subject to survey”.
In our experience, perhaps one site in every five will require additional work to deliver a leased line successfully - this leads to excess charges to support the installation. Most of these will involve some sort of dig to lay cables in the ground. If that dig involves a public highway then charges can rise.
