Between now and 2015, the amount of companies that opt for greater agility and competitiveness in the marketplace by choosing hosted solutions will double. 

That's according to research by IBM, which has suggested that those companies that use the cloud will find that it works to their advantage when they announce new products and when they are searching new revenue streams.

More than three-in-five (62 per cent) of those who took the survey said that collaboration was the main driving force behind their decision to opt for hosted solutions, whilst almost as many suggested that financial savings also played their part.

Scott Hebner is the vice-president of marketing for IBM's Tivoli software and he believes that by this time in ten years, the cloud will have enjoyed the same level of success as the internet itself has had in the 21st century so far.
