Companies need to be more thorough when it comes to network security measures, with human error being one of the largest problems.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has found that 82 per cent of data breaches at large organisations were as a result of staff mistakes, which can include losing a mobile or tablet device in public or downloading an infected file onto the device.

The survey found that whilst three-quarters of companies give workers access to company networks via mobile devices, only 39 per cent of them encrypt the data that they have stored on them.

And it seems that a little more education could help companies when it comes to network security, with only 54 per cent of SMEs and 38 per cent of larger companies having codified security awareness programmes in place.
